Alexis Green is currently a Weather Presenter, Reporter and Senior Broadcast Journalist for BBC South Today, which also includes presentations on a number of the BBC’s radio stations. You may have seen Alexis’s reports on the Olympians of 2012. If not then here is a taster from the BBC Sport website.

Previously the face of GMTV/ITV London Travel, Alexis also could be heard reading the Travel News on BBC Radio 5 Live & Talk Sport. Alexis Green was born in Winchester and lived in Twyford in Hampshire for the first four years of her life.

Her family then moved to a farm in Fordingbridge, life was very hectic. For the 12 years it was a mixture of early starts and late finishes to keep the farm running. When Alexis Green was 16, she moved from the country to the coast where she spent her late teenage years amongst the beach huts in Mudeford in Dorset.

After completing her A-levels Alexis went to university in Cardiff where she studied Sports Science, graduating with flying colours. At the age of 23 Alexis Green joined CBBC as a runner and then became a researcher. Before she knew it, she was a studio floor manager for Five News and Channel 4 News, which involved operating studio cameras, controlling Autocue and filling in as the Weather Presenter.

Following that, she volunteered at a local radio station in Surrey, which resulted in presenting the travel news in the Midlands. After a couple of years she returned to London, presenting the travel news on GMTV, ITV, Radio 5 Live & Talk Sport.

In her free time Alexis loves to exercise and so far has run two marathons (PB – 3:46). Horse riding is another passion and she has been riding since she was six. Oh and she was a qualified Personal Trainer. At school Alexis achieved grade eight on trumpet and grade five on drums & Timpani. She is someone who will never turn down an exciting opportunity.
