Laura Woods was born in Dagenham, London, England. She studied print journalism at Kingston University. She is an English presenter working for ITV, Amazon Prime Video, and TNT Sports.

In January 2026, Laura Woods was made an Honorary Doctor of Art at Kingston University in recognition of her outstanding contribution to journalism and promoting women in sport.

Television

After graduating from university, Laura Woods got a job at Sky Sports as a runner in 2009, working her way up to editorial assistant, then into production as assistant producer, associate producer and producer.

She started presenting by doing behind-the-scenes interviews on the darts coverage for Sky Sports’ YouTube channel.

Laura Woods then got a job on the Saturday morning kids’ show Game Changers. From there she started reporting on the NFL and joined the Soccer AM online presenting team, which included a trip to Euro 2016 in France where she broadcast live on Facebook every day.

By 2018, Laura Woods became a regular pitch-side reporter on Super Sunday, occasionally reporting with Gary Neville. She left Sky Sports in 2022.

Laura Woods also worked for DAZN, as part of their coverage of boxing and the Women’s Champions League. In July 2023, she left the company.

On 17 August 2022, it was announced that Laura Woods would be joining Osi Umenyiora and Jason Bell on an hour-long NFL highlights show every Friday on ITV. On 7 September 2023, she was replaced by Craig Doyle.

On 18 July 2023, Laura Woods joined TNT Sports as the lead presenter for the UEFA Champions League and the boxing coverage.

Laura Woods was the lead presenter of ITV’s coverage of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Radio

In March 2020, Laura Woods was announced as the main presenter for Talksport’s breakfast show, presenting Monday to Wednesday, with Thursdays and Fridays presented by Alan Brazil.

On 14 June 2023, Laura Woods announced that she was leaving the breakfast show. Her final show was on 28 June 2023.

Polly James

Polly James was born in Cardiff, Wales and is a Welsh radio and television presenter. She has presented for Absolute Radio, Radio X, and Capital South Wales. She has been a television sports broadcaster, covering darts for Sky Sports, as well as the Late Night Football Club, BBC One’s chat show for the duration of Wales’ participation in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Polly James starting broadcasting in community radio stations like Afan FM, and Bridge FM. After working for Nation Radio Wales, she presented an overnight show on Absolute Radio in the early 2010’s, moving to Capital South Wales in 2013. During Capital’s restructuring in 2019, her Capital South Wales breakfast show (with Matt Lissack) was cancelled and she moved to Radio X. It was later nominated for Breakfast Show of the year.

Polly James presented for Radio X Friday and Saturday nights in 2019. She has covered darts, rugby, football and boxing as a sports broadcaster, and presented for Unibet on social media.

Alex Scott

Alex Scott began her media career while still playing football, appearing on programmes such as Soccer AM,[26] with other minor roles at BBC Sport, BT Sport, and Sky Sports. She wrote a weekly women’s football column in the Morning Star newspaper, and a column in The Independent during the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

In 2016, Alex Scott appeared in Bear Grylls’ ITV show, Mission Survive, which she won.

Following her retirement in 2017, Alex Scott turned her focus full-time to television broadcasting, co-presenting on Match of the Day Kickabout. She became well known to a wider audience when she covered the 2018 FIFA World Cup, becoming the first female football pundit at a World Cup for the BBC. After the tournament, she continued to provide insight on the Premier League, and in August 2018, became the first female pundit on Sky Sports, joining the Super Sunday team. She covered the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup for the BBC. In August 2019, Alex Scott was announced as the new co-host of Sky Sports’ Goals on Sunday, alongside Chris Kamara. Since 2020, Alex Scott has been a regular co-host on the annual BBC Sports Personality of the Year ceremony. Alex Scott is also a relief guest presenter on The One Show.

In September 2019, Alex Scott was a contestant on the 17th series of Strictly Come Dancing, paired with professional dancer Neil Jones. She was the first woman footballer to take part in the show. The couple were eliminated in week 11, coming fifth.

Kelly Somers

Kelly Elizabeth Somers is a British sports presenter and reporter, and a regular contributor to football coverage on radio and television in the UK. Among her presenting credits are appearances on the BBC, Talksport, Premier League Productions (PLP) and Optus Sport. On the BBC she has appeared on programmes such as Final Score, where she provides English Football League coverage alongside Mark Clemmit and Match of the Day. She can also be seen presenting Premier League Football coverage for Amazon Prime.

Kelly Somers has worked for a number of media outlets, including the BBC and Talksport. In 2018 she presented coverage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup for Optus Sport, and in 2019 presented the BBC’s coverage of the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Following the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, which required many activities, including football, to cease for a while, she was part of the reporting team to cover one of the first matches to be played when football was allowed to resume in June 2020. The game, which saw Bournemouth take on Crystal Palace, was also the first Premier League match to be shown live on BBC television, and the first top-level match to be aired by BBC television since 1988. In August 2020, she became the sixth woman to present an edition of Match of the Day when she provided coverage of the 2020 FA Community Shield, and in 2019 presented the BBC’s coverage of the 2019 PDC World Darts Championship. She is also a regular presenter on BBC One’s The Women’s Football Show and Football Focus. Her other BBC roles have included providing coverage of England’s progress during UEFA Euro 2020, and the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

In June 2022, Kelly Somers became part of the reporting team for Channel 4’s coverage of the UEFA Nations League.

On 11 March 2023, Kelly Somers was one of several sports presenters working for the BBC who announced they would not appear on air following the BBC’s decision to remove Gary Lineker from Match of the Day after controversial comments he made about the UK government’s Illegal Migration Bill. It had initially been reported Kelly Somers would stand in for Alex Scott on Football Focus, but Kelly Somers subsequently announced she would not present the programme.
